This week, Vanity Fair reported that Red, Black & Silver, potentially the last painting Jackson Pollock ever painted and created for his mistress weeks before he was killed, was withdrawn from a Phillips de Pury’s auction earlier this month. The painting was removed so that more research could be done on whether it was actually a real Pollock or not, something that has been contested for over 50 years.
