The Shortsighted Upsell

I was getting lunch at a fast food restaurant the other day and I noticed something peculiar; the medium and large drink cups were right next to the register, but the small cups were hidden on the back counter. This isn’t the first time I’ve noticed a subtle upsell of drinks. Nearly every drive-through I’ve visited the worker on the intercom asks, “Would you like medium or large?” Did you notice the omission? They don’t even offer small anymore, you must request it.
