200,000 Taiwanese Head Home From Mainland To Vote In Tight Race Tomorrow

Some 200,000 Taiwan businesspeople working in mainland China have returned home to vote in tomorrow’s tight presidential election, an increase of about 11% from the last presidential election in 2008, according to a report in the Taipei-based China Times today.   In order to encourage Taiwan staff to return home to vote, some businesses gave workers time off, the Chinese-language newspaper said.  The elections comes just ahead of this month’s Chinese New Year holiday.
