The saga has been going on pretty much since the Macondo crisis exploded in Tony Hayward’s face in 2010: can BP survive? Things looked pretty bleak for a US fire sale until Bob Dudley stepped up as CEO to steady the ship (and Washington’s temper). But the rumors are back; with BP trying to dig itself out of its Russia (TNK-BP) hole and prospective $15bn deals trying to be struck with the US Department of Justice to draw a line under Macondo, can the British oil major survive?
